Introducing the Department of Nursing Science
The Department of Nursing Science in the College of Medicine, Chungbuk National University, took the first step in 2012 to train professional nurses who contribute to enhancing the health of human beings on the basis of humanism. The educational objectives of the department are to provide substantial nursing education in order that students are equipped with excellent practical nursing abilities, co-operative minds and a sense of service to society, and that students grow to be nurses and nursing leaders who play paramount roles in diverse nursing fields and health related areas after graduation. To achieve these objectives, the curriculum of the department consists of liberal arts (foreign languages, character education and basic academic subjects) and major courses (basic major subjects, required major subjects and advanced major subjects) so that students learn the values of nursing (altruistic spirit, equality, justice, truth, health recovery/enhancement) and establish a professional vision of nursing. In particular, Chungbuk National University Hospital provides an environment where practical clinical education can be sufficiently conducted.

Paths after Graduation
After graduation and attaining the nursing license, graduates can find jobs in diverse nursing fields, such as nursing practitioners at university hospitals and major hospitals, insurance assessment nurses, nursing and health civil officials, occupational health management nurses at company medical rooms, and nursing military officers among others. 10% of the admitted students can be employed as health teachers in elementary and middle schools after attending relevant courses, attaining the health teacher certificate and passing the teacher certification examination. Students can be employed as research nurses in health- and medicine-related institutes after gaining a Master's degree in graduate school. Those who take the medical interpreter course run by Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare can also become expert interpreters in the forefront of international medical treatment at medical institutes treating foreign patients. Passing the NCLEX-RN opens up the possibility of working for hospitals in the United States. Also, students can attain the nursing certificate after graduation, as well as attain the health educator certificate by passing the examination of national certificate for health educators.
